Eligibility
The Green Light Studio is available for Mars Hill University students, faculty, and staff.
Use of the GLS by outside entitles must be in collaboration with an MHU course, office, program or campus initiative.
Booking
Reservations are required to ensure fair access. The room may be reserved for 1 hour time slots.
Walk-in use is permissible under certain conditions
The studio is not booked for the next 45mins after walk-in arrival.
If the walk-in user is a first-time user, a librarian must be available for orientation.
Usage Hours
The Green Light Studio is available Monday-Wednesday from 9AM until 7PM, Thursday-Friday 9AM until 4PM.
Green Light Studio Operation
Tutorials are found on the GreenLight Studio LibGuide and on laminated sheets in the studio.
No Unauthorized Modifications
The tables in the studio can be moved up and down the table control panel on and though the tables are on wheels, it is not to be moved from its current position.
Please do not change the height of the lightboard table because the alignment with the camera will be compromised.
If you need to adjust the height of the lightboard, see a librarian for assistance.
GLS Cords and Cables
The cords and cables are NOT to be detached or unplugged for any reason.
Cords to attach your personal devices are supplied.
Respectful Environment
All users are expected to maintain a quiet and respectful environment within the Green Light Studio.
Noise Control: Loud noises, shouting, or playing music at high volumes are not permitted. This ensures that users in adjacent areas can work undisturbed.
Please conduct yourself in a manner that is courteous to other users and staff.
Capacity Limits: For safety and comfort, the maximum capacity of the studio is 5 persons. Consult with the library for projects that would exceed this limit.
Safety Compliance
Clear Pathways: To prevent accidents, all walkways, doorways, and exits should remain unobstructed.
Food and Drink: To protect studio equipment and maintain cleanliness, no food or drinks are allowed inside the studio. Water in a sealed container is permitted but should be kept away from equipment at all times.
Equipment Use: Please handle all equipment carefully, using it only as intended. Unauthorized adjustments or misuse of the equipment can result in damage and possible suspension of studio privileges.
Purpose of Studio Use
The Green Light Studio primarily supports educational projects and assignments. We encourage users to create content that aligns with academic and professional goals, such as:
Lectures, presentations, and instructional videos
Course-related projects, including interviews, skits, or demonstrations
Professional development materials, like resumes, portfolios, and practice presentations
Creative Projects: We welcome creative projects that support learning objectives. Please consult with a staff member if you are unsure whether your content aligns with these goals.
The studio may also be used for personal creative projects. However, if scheduling conflicts arise, priority will be given to projects related to course assignments or that have direct curricular association.
Prohibited Content
To maintain an inclusive and respectful educational environment, certain types of content are not permitted.
Adhere to community standards.
The Safe Academic & Work Environment Policies and the MHU Respect policy found in the Student Handbook apply to all users of the Green Light Studio.
Unauthorized Content
Recording of copyrighted or sensitive material without appropriate permissions is not allowed. Users are responsible for ensuring that all content complies with intellectual property laws and institutional policies.
Violation of Guidelines: Users who create or attempt to create prohibited content may lose access to the studio and could face further disciplinary action per university policy.
Storage Limits
Recordings must be saved to personal storage devices or accounts; studio equipment will not permanently store files.
File Deletion
All recordings will be automatically deleted at the end of the day to free up storage.
Training Requirement
A short training session for first-time users is required. Please allow time for training before your booking.
Support Availability
Technical support is available from a librarian. Please inquire at the Reference Desk located just outside the studio.
Special Needs: Any users requiring special assistance should arrange for appropriate support, as studio staff may not be available to provide one-on-one assistance during sessions.
Liability for Damage
Users are responsible for damage caused by negligence.
Report any technical issues or damage immediately to Library Staff to prevent further problems for other users.
User Consent
Booking and use of the Green Light Studio constitutes agreement with the policies outlined here.
Users consent to any data collection or monitoring that might occur within the studio for security or troubleshooting.
Confidentiality
There is no expectation of privacy in the Green Light Studio.
Material left on any of the equipment may be viewed by others.
Late Arrival
There is a 15-minute grace period for bookings.
Please note this time will be deducted from your 1-hour reservation.
After 15 minutes, the reservation will be cancelled and the room made available to other users.
No-Show Penalty
Repeat no-shows will result in the loss of studio privileges.
These policies will help create a functional and respectful environment for everyone who uses the Green Light Studio, making it a sustainable resource in the educational setting.
